Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganeshotsav, is a major Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesh, the deity of wisdom, prosperity, and auspiciousness.

Auspicious Timings:

  • Muhurat for idol installation: From 11:06 AM to 12:33 PM.

Puja Vidhi (Rituals):

  1. Install Ganesh Idol:
    • Clean the house thoroughly and take a bath.
    • Decorate the puja area and install the Ganesh idol.
    • Perform a ritualistic bath (snan) of the idol with gangajal and milk.
    • Offer red cloth, sindoor, flowers, and a sacred thread (moli).
  2. Perform Shodashopachar Puja:
    • Offer sixteen types of materials to Lord Ganesh, including water, milk, ghee, honey, yogurt, fruits, flowers, betel leaves, betel nuts, cloves, cardamom, etc.
    • Light incense, lamps, and perform aarti.
    • Chant Ganesh mantras.
  3. Offer Bhog (Prasad):
    • Offer modak, laddoo, fruits, and favorite sweets of Lord Ganesh.
    • Distribute prasad after offering.

Special Observances:

  • During Ganesh Chaturthi, people worship Lord Ganesh for ten days.
  • On the tenth day, the Ganesh idol is immersed (visarjan).
  • Various cultural programs and festivals are organized during this period.
